information for parents

 Fall/Winter training SEASON

Fall/ Winter Training provides stroke correction and dryland training to keep swimmers and players conditioned in the off-season and continue developing muscle memory from correct stroke technique and player technique.

Sunfish Swim Training is limited to two (2) hours per week (families have option to register for no more than 2 days from either Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday) abiding by the requirements to be a summer swimmer. Swimmers are grouped by age and ability and can train up to two hours weekly.

Water Polo is currently limited to one to two hours depending on age and skill level and is held on Saturdays. Scrimmages are held with other water polo clubs as an opportunity to further enhance their game play and awareness of the sport. This program focuses on some swimming and sport fundamentals to get players to learn the game in a fun and low intensity program.

Synchronized Swim Training is currently limited to one hour on Sundays. This program focuses on sport fundamentals to get swimmers to learn the synchronized figures in preparation of the summer competitive program.

If you are done with swimming lessons and want more, or if you want to condition yourself for your other primary sports, our Fall/Winter Training program offers an excellent balance of swimming and general fitness to get you ready for your competitive sports.

SUMMER TRAINING SEASON

There is a lot of important information on this page that you need to review carefully so you and your swimmers get the most out of the Summer swimming season!

Make sure you read the Sunfish Parent Handbook or all club policies, bylaws codes and expectations.

Volunteering at Sunfish is a whole team effort. More hands, means less work for everyone. We rely on parents to volunteer and help us put together fun club events, run our swim meets, participate in other swim meets, and really make the season special for the kids. We all want our kids to have fun every time they see Sunfish!

Official Meets
We  include a list of the swim meets and schedules that our swimmers will attend in the summer. You MUST sign up online thru Active in order to be included on the event list for the meet. Please make a careful note of the deadlines.

Club Events
A big part of Sunfish is the summer fun we have as a team. Our Social Director works hard to create a fantastic list of events for the summer and most need help from our parent volunteers. Please review the calendar and save the dates.

Volunteering
Part of your membership obligation is to provide the club with at least 20 hours of volunteering through the summer season. Eight of those hours are to be served during SUNFISH'S ANNUAL INVITATIONAL SWIM MEET and the other twelve hours can be picked up at Swim Meets and Sunfish social events.  However, the more hours you put into the Club, the more the Club can provide for your children.

Please note that when your swimmer attends another Club's meet, you are obliged to do one shift per weekend (timing and officiating).

Parent Night
Our first event of the summer season is an orientation night for new families and a chance for everyone to meet their coaches, find out their training groups, get their training schedules and order their team uniform and training equipment.
