ARE YOUR CHILDREN READY FOR THE NEXT STEP IN SWIMMING?
BOYS & GIRLS OF ALL AGES AND EXPERIENCE LEARN TO SWIM BETTER WITH US
Sunfish swimmers range from 5 years old new to technical swimming, to teenagers who have swam competitively. All swimmers train throughout the year but ONLY compete in the Summer Program. Training emphasis is placed on building endurance and strength, developing good technique, preparing for races, and developing the confidence necessary to perform well and have fun at swim meets.
Participants are organized into practice groups where they focus on refining their strokes, starts, and turns. Assignment of swimmers to practice groups is determined by age and ability with the consideration of having swimmers of similar age and ability practice with each other. Sunfish encourages training for competition as well as cross-training and conditioning for other sports.
At the start of the summer season, experienced swimmers can work with their coach to devise an individual training plan that helps them meet their goals. Each swimmer’s plan outlines the number of practices the swimmer intends to participate in each week, which areas of their development they intend to focus on, as well as a strategy to integrate the swim training with the other sports and activities.
To get the most out of our Club, swimmers are encouraged to participate in competitions and attend social events.
