WHAT IS OUR WATER POLO PROGRAM?
BOYS & GIRLS OF ALL AGES AND EXPERIENCE COME PLAY WITH US
Junior Program (10U & 12U)
10U - Does your child want to improve their swimming in a way that is not a traditional swimming lesson? Does your child get bored with regular swimming? Boys and girls aged 7-9 years old are encouraged to learn and try out the sport of water polo. This program is a great feature to our multi-discipline program. No experience necessary, it's just some swimming with a ball and a net. Great way to learn to swim and have some fun! You will see results in the first day. Children will learn a version of freestyle and backstroke fundamentals to help them move the water polo ball across the pool. After some swimming time, we teach the children how to use the ball in the water. This helps the child develop coordination and motor skills. And of course the real fun comes when we play a water polo game or some sort of development game after each session.
There is no water polo skills required, but each child needs to be able to get into the pool unassisted and listen to instructions. If your child loves this sport, we will help him/her develop and move to our junior program where the intensity is higher and scrimmage games are available.
12U - Boys and girls aged 10-12 years old who want to better their game as a water polo player, build their swimming stamina or for new swimmers who are comfortable in the water and are simply looking for a fun and moderate intensity aquatic sport. Therefore, children must have basic swimming skills and are looking to challenge themselves but in a fun team environment. The first 30 minutes is dedicated to water polo swimming and the remaining time is used for water polo skill development and of course a water polo game or version of a development game. This program also offers scrimmages with other water polo clubs (i.e. Surrey Development League) and are dependent on their practice time schedule and if applicable a nominal fee.
Offered:
Fall/Winter: 2-3 hours/week (please refer to the session schedule)
Summer: Included in summer program 3x/week (includes scrimmages, 2-3 tournaments, Regionals / Provincials)
Senior Program (14U/16U/OCat2)
This program is for boys and girls age 13 years old and up to as high as high performance winter players. It is a higher intensity level than our junior program and depending on availability a nominal fee will include scrimmages with local water polo clubs (i.e. Surrey Development League for 14U and FVWP/SWP scrimmages).
