Revised Safety Plans
Following BC's Stage 3 Restart Plan and PHO Mask Mandate, we have revised our Step 3 Addendum.

July 10, 2021
Revised Safety Plans
Following the easing of restrictions by the Public Health Officer and the City of Delta, our Sunfish safety plans have been revised for both indoor (Sungod) and outdoor (NDRC) pools via an addendum (North Delta Sunfish Step 3 plan dated July 6, 2021) which is now published below.
July and August Practice Schedules
Revised schedules from July 12 to August 20 have now been posted on our website and emailed to families.
June 3, 2021
Although BC's Restart Plan was announced last week, Sunfish has been waiting for instructions from the City of Delta. Delta has been trying really hard to stay up to date with all sports as they update their guidelines.
The City of Delta has just announced:
Effective immediately outdoor sport can remove physical distancing requirements and conduct training as normal. For swimming, this means full, “normal” practices can occur in outdoor pools. This is within your club only, no club collaboration. There is no cohort limitation – We do not have a limit on the number of swimmers in a lane or in the pool.
These changes are supported by:
What does this mean for Sunfish?
- the maximum capacity of 31 bodies is lifted
- restrictions of swimmers/lane has been lifted
- physical distancing within the water is lifted
- water polo scrimmages can occur (interclub only - but have already made July plans with other local water polo clubs)
- Time Trials with officials on deck can occur (we started last Friday, following BC's announcement) AND we have made arrangements for our Sungod July /August USER-PAY TIME TRIALS to include a limited number of swimmers from one Fraser South Swim Club per weekend - refer to website for schedule)
NOTE:
Wearing a mask and physical distancing of 2m is still required during dryland and while on deck.
As a result of these changes, I'll be updating the Club Safety Plan and will post on our website in the next few days.

New Provincial Health Orders & BCSSA Update
Provincial Health Order
The PHO recognizes that now more than ever sport provides important physical and mental health benefits to our communities, and as such sport can continue; however, within some new parameters.
Each member must now be 3m apart from one another.
BCSSA Update - Return to Competition 2021
....We currently have a committee that is developing our "Return to Competition" plan and they are looking at short term options (club & regional meets throughout our traditional competitive season), as well as the events that are further away such as Provincials. We do know that competition in 2021 will likely look different than it has previously, but we are confident that it WILL happen in one form or another ...

Given the recent announcement and the provincial order that takes into effect tonight at 10pm, the City of Delta has responded that Sunfish activities will still continue. However, this permittance comes with strict warnings that we remain socially distance in and out of water as well as during our dryland activities.
Parents are still responsible to review the daily health questionnaire from the province, but the City has said that verbal health checks must still continue just before entering the facility. Although some kids are not taking these questions seriously, please help our coaches by reminding them that we are doing our due diligence.
Although Sunfish started Phase 3 swimming protocols, we have instructed all coaches to return to Phase 2 protocols that were in place over the summer session and remind all members to physically distance themselves:
Wearing a mask to practice is still mandatory.
These reminders are regardless if kids are in each other's bubble and even if they are siblings. For the sake of optics to the City and the general public, we need to ensure physical distance amongst all members is followed.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as the City and our Club sort out these instructions under the new provincial health order.

BC has has announced its transition into Phase 3 of BC's Restart Plan. "The BC Restart Plan takes a phased approach to reopening. The Province has now acted to extend COVID-19 liability coverage to for-profit organizations through the COVID-19 Related Measures Act (CRMA). The regulation protects people (paid or volunteer) from proceedings for civil liability for damages resulting from transmission or exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. The regulation is retroactive to January 1, 2020 and will remain in force unless and until the CRMA is repealed. British Columbians will be able to get back to playing sports sooner with the Province’s action to protect amateur sport organizations from COVID-19 liabilities, provided they are complying with public health orders and provincial sport guidelines. https://www.viasport.ca/news/province-takes-action-support-return-sport

As some of you know, on June 2, 2020, the Delta Council endorsed the Reopening Plan for City Hall, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Facilities. Last week, all Delta swim clubs were invited to submit their Return to Sport Plan/Covid-19 Safety Plan. Our Club has worked hard to develop our plan in conjunction with BCSSA’s safety guidelines, City of Delta’s Safety Plan and other provincial and federal health policies.
I have attached the North Delta Return to Sport /Covid-19 Safety Plan AND other related documents for your review. These documents will be updated as new information arrives. If you have any questions regarding these documents, please email vpcoaching@ndsunfish.com your questions. We will try to respond to your concerns as well as have a parent meeting (virtual or small group meetings) prior to the start of our summer program once we hear back from the City regarding pool time assignments and dates.
